FROM: Robert Biljan Neutral Citations On February 1, 2001, the Court began using the neutral citation standard to identify its decisions. The neutral citation number (for example, Santosh K. Singh v. Canada (A.G.), 2001 FCT 198) is assigned to each reasons for judgment as they are rendered. Judgment Citations All citations to judgments should reference official reports (e.g. F.C.) when the decisions are reported. This can be followed by the neutral citation number (e.g. 2001 FCA 3) and the electronic database reference (e.g. [1996] F.C.J. No. 282 (QL)). When a judgment is not available in official reporters, the neutral citation should be provided followed by the electronic database reference. Book of Authorities Further to the Notice to the Parties and the Profession issued April 27, 2000, the attention of the profession is again drawn to the mandatory provisions of Rule 348 and, in particular, the requirement that the parties must file the book of authorities at least 30 days before the hearing.
