Born in Saint John, New Brunswick. Education: Bachelor of Teaching in 1970 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1971 at the University of St. Thomas. She also received a Masters of Education degree in 1979, and a Bachelor of Law degree in 1984, both from the University of New Brunswick. She was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in 1985. Madam Justice Layden-Stevenson was a partner at Stevenson & Stevenson in Fredericton, New Brunswick from 1985 to 2002 and was appointed Judge of the Federal Court of Canada, Trial Division and ex offiicio member of the Court of Appeal in January 2002, and then Judge of the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada in April 2002. Madam Justice Layden-Stevenson was a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Law Society of New Brunswick, York-Sunbury Law Society and New Brunswick Fredericton Area Legal Aid Appeals Committee.
